Tempeh Grilled Cheese

We often get asked for simple ways to add tempeh to your diet, and here's a no-brainer. Tempeh grilled cheese and tomato.

Ingredients

  • 1 cake of Tootie's Tempeh, sliced lengthwise into thin strips
  • 1–2 TBSP avocado oil
  • Garlic powder, to taste
  • Onion powder, to taste
  • 2 slices bread
  • Vegan cheese slices
  • 1 fresh tomato, sliced
  • Olive oil (for grilling)

Instructions

  1. Simply slice the tempeh length-wise so it's thinner, saute the slices in avocado oil with a bit of garlic and onion powder till both sides are golden brown. Then assemble the sandwich for grilling (we used vegan cheese, fresh sliced tomato, and olive oil in the pan). Grill as you would normally cook any grilled cheese. Super delicious and full of tons of extra protein, fiber, nutrients, plus the bonus of prebiotics!
