Tempeh Crumble Pizza

Tempeh Crumble Pizza
These tempeh crumbles are so flavorful and make the perfect topping for pizza or pasta night. We used them on a delicious pizza made with store bought dough, with @pembertonfarms pomodoro sauce, and @plantaheadusa mozzarella cheese.
Ingredients
- Tempeh crumbles:
- 1 (8oz) Traditional Tootie’s Tempeh
- 2 TBSP maple syrup
- 2 TBSP soy sauce or tamari
- 2 TBSP olive oil
- 2 TBSP water
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp dried rosemary
- ½ tsp dried sage
- ½ tsp dried basil
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 TBSP neutral oil (for cooking)
- To serve:
- Pizza dough
- Vegan mozzarella cheese
- Other toppings or veggies of choice
Instructions
- Crumble tempeh using hands or a food processor. Add all other ingredients besides the cooking oil and stir well to combine.
- Let sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the tempeh to marinate.
- Preheat a stainless steel or cast iron skillet and add 2 TBSP of neutral oil. Add in the marinated tempeh crumbles and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally until browned. Do not over cook as the tempeh will continue to darken on the pizza while in the oven.
- We used it as a topping for pizza but can also be used as a topping for pasta dishes or salads!
